Stained Glass

Imagine the colors you see... the images that are presented, the people the place the things that are all engraved in the stained glass. What colors shine through the glass when the sun is rising? How about when the sun sets? What about on a cloudy day…do we see a different image…do you maybe notice a part of the stained glass you have never noticed before? When its dim… we find emotion, thoughts and pictures we have never seen before. In contrast what about when the sun is shining so bright… all we can see is the image that gives off the most vibrant color… but when its dim we focus, search and find what it is you are meant to see.

I look at each one of us like a mosaic of stained glass. Our experiences; past, present and future create the images within our own stained glass. Our emotions, presence, being and state of mind create the colors in our own medley of glass. These can change depending on how the sun is shining through.

Recently I shared pieces of my own stained glass with individuals in my world. Letting others see your stained glass can possibly trigger them to think. Create. Paint. Trust. Balance. Find the rhythm. The interesting piece is that the people in my life who have contributed to my stained glass, and who have been aware of it saw a different image and light then those that were seeing it for the first time.

Find your stained glass. Look at it during the day and night. Keep it to your self or share it…

Remember that the sun creates beautiful light at all times of the day.

Line up

Imagine if we all lined up in a straight line. How orderly the exterior would look although, the interior would be a mixture of incredible life. Judging a book by its cover is something that we started when we were young, over a simple picture book. It has now thrived into our adulthood and society. See past the cover and get within. Within the being of the person; the who, the what, the when, the where, the how. Take a chance and explore the details that are possible to learn from taking the curvy path. It’s about the hard turns in the trail, the highs and lows of the mountains, the wind and rain at the beach and the sun and snow in the universe. If order was taken all the time then were would the vibe generate? Think about how often in our daily life we line up. In our daily routine we line up every morning we wake up. Imagine what it is like to wake up and NOT get in line. How about cutting the line without consequence… it would create beauty.

Stand up straight but don’t tie your shoes.

Finish Line

Sometimes it’s right there in front of you, other times we can see it through the thick fog ahead and then there are times we have no idea when or where it is… but it’s out there. Are the finish lines that are out of sight always the most challenging? Or are they the ones that push us, build us and create who we are. This doesn’t mean that the short ones should be deemed easy… these teach us patience and control… and the ones that are cloudy have their own lesson; overcoming and pushing through. Each one of us is on our own variety of journeys heading  towards many different finish lines. Some happen at the same time and others are spread out. The important thing to remember is sometimes we choose our paths but other times they are out of our control. Either way we are always working to reach the end… mix it up… run, walk, skip go backwards, go off the path feel the rough rocks, the smooth pavement, the cushioning yet soft sand, the fine yet dense snow, the flat ground, hills steady or steep….

Feel the rain, sun, snow and the bitter cold. It’s all part of the journey…

Lights Out

Something happens in darkness. It triggers a calm state but at the same time a feeling of fear and unknown. What’s out there? Who is out there? Where is out there? How far does the space go? That is the beauty of dark space… we explore, we move forward with confidence and with fear.  Exploring the unknown space before us is sometimes familiar and other times unfamiliar. But our adrenaline starts to rise and we move forward looking for what is next in the darkness… because when it is dark out we don’t’ have a choice.

What if we acted like this all the time? Just went for what is out there even though we didn’t know what was in front of us, obstacles, bumps in the road, another person, or maybe nothing is there, just space. Live life without fear but be aware of fear. Plunge forward go for the unknown; take a risk, who cares if we fall down, that is when we learn. Act like it is dark around you and be yourself, what if you lived your life like no one was watching? Think about the power that you would bring into your being.

Enjoy life in the light and be who you are in the dark.

The feeling when you get a...

Strike.

That feeling that comes over you when you get ready to throw your first ball down the bowling lane…excitement, fear, embarrassment…its like everyone is watching. We are all scared that we are going to strike out. Its normal. That is why when we are kids adults put bumpers on the lane for us. No matter how badly we bowl they set us up for success and the ball will not be rolling down the gutter. As we grow older there are no more bumpers. The chance of rolling a gutter ball becomes greater. And even more metaphorically, the more we ‘roll the ball’ or ‘take the chances’ the higher the probability that we throw a gutter ball or a strike. So… fear striking out…

Keep rolling the ball, you will eventually hit a strike, it’s all about perseverance.

When bowling the ball down the lane… what pin is it going to hit? We tend to always focus on the front top pin… what about all the pins surrounding it, especially the ones in the back. I look at the ball like a metaphor for emotion. The pins are the people, places and things that we explode on… the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s easy to hit the front pin… but we have to dig deeper or roll the ball harder to hit the pins in the back.

What is great about the relationship between the bowling ball and its pins? The pins get right back up, they stand up straight and patiently waiting for the next ball to come plunging down the lane… and the ball, it keeps on rolling embracing failure or success.

Interaction, working together and continuing to ROLL the ball down the lane; into the pins (whether we are afraid of striking out or not), into the front pin.

Hit all ten pins and raise your hands up and cheer!

A flash back on how to...

BALANCE

About balance...lately I have been working on balancing on one leg and fine-tuning the muscles surrounding it. As I am typing this it makes me think that I can use this as an analogy for life, "life is like one big balancing act". If you do not put time, effort and energy into the things that help you "stand up" that are surrounding you then there is no way that you will be able to stand and balance for a long period of time. It takes stamina, practice, patience and determination to balance. It is important to remember, that with out all the little and BIG things that distract us from balancing it would be too easy to balance...

Take balancing as a challenge and conquer it.

Embrace the...

Heavy

Why is it that we set goals to lift heavy things? In all areas of our lives… we are working to lift that heavy weight, carry a few more pounds, increase our goal from last week. What about when we don’t want to lift heavy things. Our lives should not feel heavy, but the reality is sometimes we can’t avoid the heavy.

We are delivered packages that we can’t pick up… or sometimes we have to pick them everyday even if we don’t want too, what if we just want to drop the package and just say forget it. Will we ever find out what is inside? Is it all the heavy things in life that someday turn into light? Do we work hard at lifting heavy things and then one-day things feel light? Or do we keep piling on the weight? And when things are light, are we fulfilled? Satisfied?

Maybe there is a different type of heavy? Heavy that is given to us as a lesson and a heavy that we induce on ourselves consciously and unconsciously to improve and grow as individuals. What about our bodies feeling heavy or light? Our hearts? Our minds?  Our souls? Is feeling heavy something we need to cure or is it about embracing the heavy… and learning.

Drop the negative meaning of heavy and look at the glass half full of positive life lessons that we are always working on lifting up.

Getting back into the...

RHYTHM

Humans walk around their lives striving and searching for happiness another way to look at this is to search for rhythm in your life. Find the rhythm in your breath, just take a quiet minute and listen to and become one with your breath. It is what controls your being, your mood your presence who you are inside and who are you to others. Become one with the rhythm in your heart beat, it keeps fresh oxygen flowing through your body allowing your brain to think, your lungs to fill up with air, your legs to walk, arms to stretch, fingers to wiggle, eyes to blink, mouth to smile, ears to hear and listen, nose to smell. Everything around you that god created in the universe is based around rhythm: water, waves in the ocean are rhythmic; the orbits of our plants are rhythmic, weather and wind.

Our daily lives are rhythmic. Sometimes we dance to the same rhythm for a while, change your rhythm, speed it up, slow it down, keep it right where it is.... whatever works, be one with your own rhythm.

Strive for rhythm in your life and peace and happiness will come.
